Detention Centers by Halliburton ?
If you learned that Halliburton now has a contract in the amount of $385 million to build a series of "detention centers", each to house up to 5,000 detainees, would you look askance? Yeh, me too. Here's the story: The Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) subsidiary of Halliburton has such a contract awarded by the Army Corps of Engineers last January. Yep KBR is the same outfit that overcharged for its work in Iraq. The "centers" would be used by the Homeland Security Department for "unexpected influx of immigrants; as housing for victims of natural disaster; and for new programs that require additional detention space." NEW PROGRAMS THAT REQUIRE ADDITIONAL DETENTION SPACE ?!?! What new programs? Do the new programs have anything to do with all those phone records AT&T et al have turned over to Bush and company? The mind boggles.
